I'm an instructional and user experience designer, living in Redondo Beach in the Greater Los Angeles area. I completed the Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology (MSIDT) at California State University, Fullerton in 2021. My goal is to help improve online education and training experiences.
After earning my Bachelor of Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, I worked in the food industry. As a Product Development Manager, I oversaw products from ideation to launch and post-launch maintenance. Balancing multiple projects and deadlines reinforced my commitment to effective time management, communication, and organizational skills.
As I became increasingly aware of possibilities in the digital space, I found my career interests changing. I completed the Fullstack Coding Boot Camp at UCLA Extension and a series of courses in UX Design and UX Research from California Institute of the Arts and the University of Michigan. I spent time professionally in user experience design, web development, and graphic design.
I continued my education, completing the MSIDT at CSUF. In my most recent instructional design role, I worked as the instructional designer for Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Programs (DIEP) at CSUF. I designed and developed learning solutions to educate students, staff, and faculty at CSUF.
Today, I enjoy making digital products engaging, useful, intuitive, and accessible. I take into consideration people of different backgrounds and abilities, including those who may have limited experience with technology. My experience in both design and development strengthens my interdepartmental communication with developers, designers, and stakeholders.
When I’m not designing and building digital products, I'm enjoying the outdoors, volleyball, pickleball, podcasts, video games, and exploring culinary innovations.
"Brenton is an insightful and skilled Instruction Designer. During my time overseeing the instructional design projects Brenton worked on and completed for the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Programs at CSUF, he was attentive to the vision and mission of the office, thoughtful in his recommendations for design and communication, and produced quality work. Brenton upholds a standard of excellence in his work, is a supportive team player, and his experience as a designer was evident in his process and project output. It was such a pleasure having the opportunity to work with Brenton. I highly recommend him - Brenton would be a remarkable asset to any organization that was fortunate enough to have him as part of their team."

"Brenton was recommended to our department, the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Programs at CSUF by the director of his master’s program in Instructional Design and Technology. We hired him to create a digital module, Introduction to Racial Equity. His work exceeded our expectations and we went on to hire him for a full-time position after he graduated. Taking content from our live sessions, Brenton created several additional self-paced modules that fulfilled the goals of the department, including Faculty Recruitment and Hiring, and Conducting Equitable Searches. His work ethic and attitude bring team members together and keep projects on schedule. The modules Brenton developed continue to be utilized campus wide."
